Are You Ready for the Sailor Moon Reboot?

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal is shaping up to be a solid reboot. The official English-subtitled trailer reveals Usagi Tsukino, our clumsy schoolgirl protagonist, who meets Luna and receives a magical brooch that can transform her into Sailor Moon. The show will revisit the original plot of trying to protect the Legendary Silver Crystal from Queen Beryl (and probably a few booty calls from Tuxedo Mas), but will be truer adaptation of the manga and not a straight-up remake. The reanimation of Naoko Takeuchi’s original anime is stunning; it’s nice to see Sailor Moon’s hair have a little flow to it.

The anime airs July 5th on Hulu and Viz Media’s Neon Alley, and will be releasing new episodes every other Saturday.
