Coming next month exclusively to Hulu is a brand new Hellraiser film that features a new cast and a new story. This isn’t a reboot or remake but rather a continuation in the same universe.

The official synopsis involves “a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.“
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director David Buckner stated very bluntly that this film is not a remake but a new story that takes place in the same universe as the originals. Here is his whole quote on the subject:
“This is not a remake. I just didn’t think you could ever remake the original Hellraiser. It’s too much its own thing and it would be, I think, perilous territory for filmmakers, because how do you top that? This is a new story in the Hellraiser universe.”
Hellraiser comes exclusively to Hulu on October 7th. The film is directed by David Bruckner.
