Brie Larson is in Talks for ‘Captain Marvel’ Role

Brie Larson is the top contender in the running to play the marvelous Carol Danvers.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]ccording to Variety, a source reports Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson (Room, 21 Jump Street) is in early talks for the coveted Captain Marvel role, in the upcoming standalone film of the same name. Word is Larson is currently the frontrunner who’s tipped to be their first choice.

Larson would portray Carol Danvers, a popular female comic book figure who gains superpowers after an encounter with an alien from the Kree race, which leads her to take up the moniker of Captain Marvel. Danvers’ powers include flight, enhanced strength, speed and durability, and the ability to shoot bursts of concussive energy from her hands.

The standalone movie surrounding Danvers is currently planned to hit the big screens in 2019, with writers Meg LaFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) penning the screenplay. So far the project has no director, but word is the film is looking to cast their lead role first, with the intention of introducing Danvers in another Marvel film before the solo project is released.

Larson does make for a great fit, and if it all goes ahead as planned the actress is a solid choice who will surely nail the part. Some amazing fan-art has already surfaced with Larson sporting Captain Marvel’s gear, such as this brilliant piece by the very talented Boss Logic

Going from this it’s very easy to see Larson embodying the role of Carol Danvers, and we’re sure she’ll be a fantastic addition to the MCU.

Captain Marvel is currently scheduled for release 8 March, 2019.
