E3 2019 has come and gone, and for some of us, it left a long-lasting impression. For others, though, it was a little less exciting. It seems that in recent years, big first time reveals have taken a back seat in favor of showing off a little more for titles that were revealed 2-3 years ago (looking at you, Marvel’s Spider-Man & Days Gone).

Still, we think there is plenty to be excited about, but that doesn’t mean EVERY LITTLE THING will be on this list. Some stuff, like FFVII Remake made the cut since we got new footage, but that game was revealed like, 3+years ago. CyberPunk 2077 also had some big news (and memes) with the inclusion of Keanu Reeves, so it makes the cut, too. Just keep in mind, we won’t hit on every title that tickled your fancy. Anyway, let’s get to it.

NINTENDO

Breath of the Wild (Sequel)

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch Exclusive
  • Release Date: TBD

Nintendo has this way of always impressing everyone and stealing the show when it comes to Expos and conventions. This year was no exception, considering the Switch-exclusive announcement for a BotW sequel left us in awe.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch Exclusive
  • Release Date: 3.20.2020

Finally, AC is coming to Switch, and fans were going crazy on social media for it. Personally, I never got into Animal Crossing, but I see the appeal. New features and additions to the series sounds like fans will be pleased, now you just have to wait until next year to get your hands on it.

No More Heroes III

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch Exclusive
  • Release Date: 2020

We have been waiting for this sequel for a long time, and it looks gorgeous. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Travis transform into a Sentai (Power Ranger) of sorts?

Astral Chain

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch Exclusive
  • Release Date: 8.30.2019

Takahisa Taura and Hideki Kamiya, the Nier: Automata designer and Bayonetta director, respectively, are attached to this project, and they have our attention. I am not going to lie, I have no idea what Astral Chain is. But this trailer has me super interested. Between the anime art style and the insane combo moves, I totally will be picking this one up.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch Exclusive
  • Release Date: This Year at Some Point

Finally, Luigi is back busting up ghosts. The original game on the ‘Cube was fun and so was its sequel. Never would I have expected there would be 3 entries in this series, but I am very happy there is.

The Witcher 3 (Complete Edition)

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch (also available on XBO, PC, PS4)
  • Release Date: This Year at Some Point

The hardware of the Switch may come in a small package, but you have to admit we have come a long way for power of this magnitude to fit in your hands like this. Plus, this bundle comes with the Wild Hunt expansion, which will likely take up all your GBs if you do not have a large enough storage drive.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

  • Platform: Nintendo Switch Exclusive
  • Release Date: 07.26.2019

Nintendo did a great job getting us hyped for their showcase of games, and Fire Emblem gettin’ some love was a nice addition. The game will be out next month, so you won’t have to wait too long like the other games among their showcase.

PLAYSTATION, PC, XBO

FFVII Remake

  • Platform: PS4 Exclusive
  • Release Date: 03.20.2020

Yes, we have known about this game for years. Not exactly a reveal, but we are super excited about it anyway. The game uses the same combat style, or similar to FFXV, which is a complete remake from the ground up (unlike the FFVIII Remaster coming). We hope that like the original FFVII, this comes to PC at some point. Shame to see such a beautiful title be limited to existing Playstation hardware.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

  • Platform: PS4, XBO, PC, Stadia
  • Release Date: 10.04.2019

The game features Jon Bernthal as the villain. That is enough for us. Although I will say that I am not personally a fan of many Tom Clancy games, anything that features Shane Walsh in it, we will give a try.

Outriders

  • Platform: PS4, XBO, PC
  • Release Date: 2020

If you loved Bulletstorm, you will likely be interested in Outriders. Crazy shooting and action-packed, Outriders might just satisfy our itch to blow stuff up and shoot things in the face. Not a PS-exclusive, thankfully.

Watch Dogs Legion

  • Platform: PS4, PC, Stadia, XBO
  • Release Date: 03.06.2020

We were never huge fans of Watch Dogs, since the first one sort fell a little flat, in our opinion. But the premise and mechanics were cool, and there is a lot of potential in this series. Watch Dogs 2 was better than the first, and this one does look fun, to say the least. Giving it credit where it’s due, being able to play as an elderly woman and beat people up does look hilariously entertaining.

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2

  • Platforms: PS4, PC, XBO
  • Release Date: 2020

Ominous vampires, creepy night-time settings, and lots and lots of bats. Bloodlines 2 is a sequel that many have been waiting for and one that I didn’t know I needed. Never played the first one, but I will play this one.

Shenmue 3

  • Platform: PS4, PC
  • Release Date: 11.19.2019

Shenmue is a series that I never got into, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t popular. What started off as a silly KickStarter campaign turned into a massively successful crowdfunding that lead to a quality sequel to a beloved franchise.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

  • Platforms: PS4, Switch, PC, XBO
  • Release Date: 07.26.2019

If you love killing Nazis, then this is the game for you. Wolfenstein does its action and thrills well, and it equally satisfies your lust for slaughtering Nazi scum.

DBZ: Kakarot

  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • Release Date: 2020

If you like playing the exact same story, with the exact same missions, with the exact same graphics, with the exact same setting, dialogue, and everything else over and over and over and over again, then this is the game for you. Unfortunately, it’s not for us. Not this time. Kakarot is a title that was teased some time ago as ‘Project Z’, an RPG within the Dragon Ball universe. Instead of satisfying hopes and dreams of an Online MMO or some other well thought out RPG, we basically just get XenoVerse without the social space and you only play as Goku through the Frieza saga until the conclusion where he transforms into a Super Saiyan for the first time. Yeah, we have played that game before. A lot. We will be skipping this one, thanks.

DOOM Eternal

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, Stadia
  • Release Date: 11.22.2019

Space Marine is back, and he is ready to curb-stomp more alien/demon trash. This is a franchise that is gory, violent, and oh so satisfying. We can’t wait to get back into it this fall.

Deathloop

  • Platforms: TBD
  • Release Date: TBD

Deathloop caught me by surprise with its interesting supernatural premise. Special superpowers, lots and lots of guns, and even more ways to die. We only got a cinematic, so no gameplay above, but it seems cool, I think. I just don’t really know what it is about. But it comes from the Dishonored dev team, so I am sold. That is all you had to say right there.

Halo Infinite

  • Platforms: Project Scarlett (a new XBOX)
  • Release Date: Holidays 2020

Master Chief is back and ready to fight… more aliens. Super excited about this, but also bummed its exclusive to new hardware. Doesn’t seem like current versions of the XBOX can support Infinite, and it likely won’t come to PC for some time, in order to sell more Scarlett units. Oh well, we still have The Master Chief Collection and Reach coming to Steam.

Gears of War 5

  • Platforms: XBO, PC
  • Release Date: 09.06.2019

Another flagship XBOX series is getting a new entry, and Gears 5 looks like it will be a blast to play. Haven’t played Gears in some time, but this might just get us back into the franchise.

Borderlands 3

  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • 09.13.19 / April 2020

Borderlands 3, for me, stole the show. It is one of the greatest game franchises in existence, and it is the best looter/shooter to date. With over 1 BILLION guns, and insane visuals, and presumably the same humor from the other entries in the series, Borderlands 3 looks to be one hell of a game. I won’t be picking it up this year, though. As a game that demands to be respected by playing it on PC, I won’t be getting it through the Epic Games Store. Instead, I will wait six more months and get it on Steam, like the title deserves.

Elden Ring

  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • TBD

What happens when you get video game director, writer, producer, and president of FromSoftware, Hidetaka Miyazai (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Déraciné, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice), and A Song of Ice and Fire writer George RR Martin together to create a video game? You get Elden Ring, apparently. The trailer doesn’t make much sense, but it seems excessively dramatic, for some reason. What’s more, the comments on the video are disabled, likely because fans are pissed off that Martin is making video games now, rather than finishing the last two books in ASOIAF and course-correcting the abomination that DB Weiss and David Benioff did to season 8.

The Outer Worlds

  • Platforms: PC, XBO, PS4
  • Release Date: 10.25.2019

The team behind Fallout: New Vegas is taking leaps and strides to make Outer Worlds your new time-sink, and it looks like it could be (at least until Cyberpunk comes out). Outer Worlds is what you get when you cross Borderlands 2, Bioshock, and No Man’s Sky. At least aesthetically. Plus, New Vegas was fantastic, so this is the right team taking the right elements to make the right game.

Cyberpunk 2077

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release Date: 04.16.2020

Keanu Reeves is a god. Naturally, he had to be in this game. We have known about 2077 since 2012, or possibly earlier. But the progress over the last couple of years has been astounding. And we could not be more excited for this title to grace our PCs next year.
