National Pokemon Day, the day that commemorates the release of the Red and Green version games in Japan, is on February 27th and to celebrate, Pokemon GO is having a new in-game event. From February 25 to March 2, players worldwide will be able to get their hands on Armored Mewtwo once more, in addition, a variety of “clone” Pokemon as seen in Pokemon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back.
The clone Pokemon available will be in four-star raids including the likes of Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard while clone Pikachu will be available in snapshot photobombs the same way you would have encountered Smeargle.
There are a variety of other goodies in store for players during this time as well, including hat-wearing Pokemon and a bunch more. To read all the details on those in-game treats, head over to the Pokemon GO blog for all the details.
Pokemon Red and Green first debuted in Japan on February 27, 1995, a few years before a North American release of Red and Blue in 1998 and Europe in 1999. Fans can expect all sorts of Pokemon bonuses in-store around this time including the Mewtwo Strikes Back remake that will be available exclusively on Netflix on February 27.
