Joss Whedon Deletes Twitter Account After Black Widow Controversy

Rumors surface that the Avengers director deleted his account due to hateful comment from some fanatical-feminist followers.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap] life without the evil grip of social media around your throat is the life that Joss Whedon is now living. The Avengers: Age of Ultron director is no longer a member for the popular social media site Twitter, but it’s not why most resent rumors would suggest.

Joss Whedon has caught a lot of slack from Avengers fans and critics for using the badass assassin Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson, as a damsel in distress in a few scenes in the Avengers movies. Whedon had been praised for created strong female roles in his previous work in shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, but now is under attack from feminist followers.

Joss Whedon has explained that his quitting the blogging site is because he would like to focus on his writing. Whedon did not directly discuss the Black Widow backlash on Twitter, but he did signed off leaving two last tweets for his 1.15 million followers.

“Now I may me down to sleep I pray the lord my soul to keep If I should die before I wake ‘kay.”

“Thank you to all the people who’ve been so kind and funny and inspiring up in here.”
