As the battle for best streaming site continues, Hulu gets a cut of Disney’s product with Netflix!
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t may have been a late Christmas gift for Hulu users, but it’s worth the wait! Disney and Hulu have reached an exclusive licensing deal with Disney for over 50 movies to be available for streaming.
Titles that are already available to stream include “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Mulan,” “Pocahontas,” “Hercules,” “Sister Act” and “Air Bud.”
Other titles that will be available to stream include “Con Air,” “Step Up,” “Gone in 60 Seconds,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion,” “The Mighty Ducks,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Tarzan,” “The Emperor’s New Groove,” “Muppet Treasure Island,” and “The Princess and the Frog.”
Disney has a 30 percent stake in Hulu’s streaming company. Thanks to Disney’s partnership with ABC, Hulu has already had some of Disney’s content available for streaming this year. Disney partnered up with ABC earlier this year. Content includes Disney Channel Original movies and other content from Disney TV.
Hulu is not the only streaming site that Disney has partnered up with as they also struck a deal with Netflix in 2012 for movies. Netflix reminded subscribers of its partnership with Disney and offers a variety of content for them to choose from. Disney also has their own streaming service called DisneyLife in Europe, which includes movies, TV, music, and other content.
Terms of the deal between Hulu and Disney were not disclosed, but this will help target the younger generation by generating a variety of content. In addition to it’s partnership with Disney, Hulu will attempt to include live television with the platform for their subscribers to enjoy.
