[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]f you have ever watched Hulu, you have probably been frustrated with the ads that are shown while you are watching a show or movie. Now, Hulu has a plan for subscribers that can change that.

For $11.99 a month, Hulu is offering a commercial-free option for subscribers or they can stay with the current deal for $7.99. Current subscribers can switch to this deal at any time for an additional $4. Those that stay with the cheaper deal will continue to have fewer commercials than broadcast TV shows.

“At Hulu, we pride ourselves on listening to our customers and giving them the best possible experience,” said Mike Hopkins, CEO, Hulu. “Many of our customers have asked us for a commercial free option, and so today we are excited to introduce just that. Providing more choice for consumers is fundamental to the Hulu experience, in addition to an array of choices in content and devices, our customers can now choose to watch with or without commercials.”

Within the last year, Hulu has added a lot of content to satisfy subscribers, including a multi-year deal with EPIX that brings in feature films from Paramount, Lionsfilms, and MGM. Hulu has also reached deals with AMC, FX and Turner and struck deals to exclusive TV shows’ full libraries, including Seinfeld, Brooklyn 99, CSI, South Park, Empire, Fargo, Nashville, Deadliest Catch and The Last Ship. In addition to all of these deals, Hulu is the only streaming service that provides SHOWTIME® service as a direct add-on for subscribers for an additional $8.99.

Hulu has also invested in its own personal programming and has been approved for creating its own original shows, similar to what Netflix is doing with Netflix Originals. Originals will include the following: 11/22/63 from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams featuring James Franco; Difficult People produced by Amy Poehler with stars Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner; Casual, a comedy series directed by Jason Reitman; The Way (wt), a drama starring Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan and produced by Jason Kitims.

Since it’s start in 2007, Hulu has redefined TV by connecting viewers with the stories they love. In 2015, Hulu announced that it has grown just under 9 million subscribers, an overall 50% growth year by year.
