WOW! Really?!?! What a surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t like writing about DC movies. I really don’t. Maybe back in 2015, a younger, happier Jake found enjoyment speculating and divulging news on this hotly anticipated cinematic universe. But then 2016 happened. Batman v Superman came and gave me a massive headache, and then Suicide Squad nearly killed me.
Today, the last thing I want to think about is Justice League. I don’t want to see Henry Cavill bust out of a coffin, or Jesse Eisenberg frolic out of jail, or poor Ben Affleck mope around wishing for a better movie.
I just want it to end.
Sigh. Here’s the scoop: Justice League is apparently in bad shape.
Insider Bill “Jett” Ramey of Batman-On-Film reports that production on the upcoming solo Batman film has been “pushed back” a few months. Why? Well, Justice League could be the culprit.
Ramey also reports that Justice League is “a mess,” and that Affleck might severe ties with Warner Bros. and DC before he starts working on his Batman movie, if it actually happens.
As always, take reports from industry insiders with a grain of salt, but let’s muse on this for second:
How could Justice League be a mess? We don’t know, but I could point to several concerning things in BvS that would lead me to believe our good pal Zacky Snyder is cooking up another big serving of dookie pie. Perhaps a convoluted and exhausting plot? Or an extremely out-of-place Jolly Rancher-eating villain? Or maybe, just maybe, an energy-draining, dour, lifeless, soul-sucking tone?
The three existing films in the DCEU are a mess. The upcoming DCEU film slate is a mess. Yes, Justice League is probably a mess.
I don’t like writing about DC movies, but I want to like Justice League. I want to like Wonder Woman. I want to love the Batman movie, if it ever happens.
Please, Warner Bros. and DC. Do better.
