The former Doctor Who star will portray the villain Kilgrave in the upcoming Netflix and Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones series.
[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap].K.A. Jessica Jones will be the fallow up series to Daredevil on Netflix and will have stars Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as fan fave Luke Cage (will get his own Netflix series later to come).
Tennant who now joins the cast will portray Zebediah Kilgrave a.k.a. Purple Man through a number of the up coming episodes in the show’s debut season. Which at the moment has no release date. Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s television executive, says this about the actor, “Anyone familiar with David’s work knows he brings an incredible level of dedication to any role he inhabits, a level we knew we would need from the man playing Kilgrave. While most know him for his roles as a hero, we can’t wait to unleash a whole new side of this talented actor.”
On Thursday Tennant stopped by Marvel HQ to see where the magic happens, and Marvel posted a picture of the star pointing at the iconic Marvel sign on their Instagram.
The network is thrilled to have a veteran actor such as David onboard considering how well doctor who has performed on Netflix. with that kind of following he can draw in a lot of new people to the Marvel series on day 1, and viewership is what Netflix need to stand a fighting chance.
No set release date for the A.K.A. Jessica Jones series yet but stay posted.
