Constantine, when canceled, fell into the category of another television show like Firefly that held a small but dedicated audience before it could truly show off its full potential. However, unlike Firefly which never appeared in other similar shows (but did get its very own movie) Constantine’s main character Constantine himself was given the opportunity to appear one more time before bowing out…or was he?
The website Bleeding Cool claims that one of their sources believes Constantine could make another appearance not just in Arrow but in other shows in The CW’s DC Universe as well. This would mean shows like Supergirl, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow could use the character as a means of introducing other characters to the show and it is rumored that Batwoman and Oracle (Barbara Gordon) could possibly make an appearance as well.
Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman was presented with a contract so that his character Merlyn could become a regular appearance again in not just Arrow but The Flash as well and so far it has worked out quite well in the actor’s and the shows’ favor. However, a deal like this may be offered to actor Matt Ryan who played the character Constantine only “if that show performs well enough streaming on CW Seed.”
It seems the fate of Matt Ryan’s Constantine rest in the hands of the viewers if Bleeding Cool’s source is to be believed. Of course, this is just a rumor and should be regarded as such until someone from The CW actually makes a public announcement. Until then, if you’re a fan of Constantine be sure to introduce the show and every other DC show that The CW has to your friends so they can give up their social life and stay at home glued to their television screen like the rest of us.
