With a promising teaser trailer, Call of Cthulu aims to be the best horror game shown at E3.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown, at least according to the writer H.P. Lovecraft who wrote the short story The Call of Cthulhu back in 1928. The French studio Cyanide Studio (Styx: Master of Shadows, Game of Thrones) aims to do H.P. Lovecraft’s short story justice and bring it to life in this game about a private investigator named Edward Pierce who investigates the death of a woman and her family on Darkwater Island. Check out the trailer below!
Call of Cthulhu takes place in 1920 Boston and the press release for the game describes it as “an RPG-investigation” with horror added to it. As you progress through the game to uncover the truth behind the death of the woman and her family you become “closer to Cthulhu’s sphere of influence, madness will progressively engulf your senses, leaving you to increasingly question what is real and what is illusory.”
