No more deception of Drakes.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he film adaptation for Naughty Dog’s Uncharted has been in development for about eight years and it seems they’re finally getting the ball rolling. Fans have been speculating when the film will begin shooting and who might portray the protagonist, Nathan Drake. In a recent interview with Collider, director Shawn Levy (Big Fat Liar, Real Steel) has shed some light on the state of the movie.
Uncharted is Levy’s next project and has made it clear that not only is he committed to the film, but that he is also beyond happy to work on the film. In regard to his happiness, Levy stated, “I am unabashedly thrilled to be making that next year.” Ears were surely perked up after hearing that filming would begin next year. After being asked when filming would begin, Levy explained, “The goal is to film in the late spring, early summer.”
As for who will portray Nathan Drake, Levy announced, “I’m not actually going to base my casting on Twitter suggestions.” The director went on to joke that on Twitter, fans have proposed have a substantial amount of actors, such as Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Nathan Fillion (Firefly). ““It’s every actor who is ruggedly handsome, which is to say every movie star, and who looks anything like the square-jawed, chiseled-featured Drake,” Levy said.
Levy then admitted, “The truth is, the conversations that are happening right now are with the studio and the producers talking about who feels right to us and to me.” Slyly, the director later added, “Maybe I’ve even said the name in this room; who knows?”
There is no release date yet for the Uncharted film.
