[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]fter The Last Guardian seemed to be going the Duke Nukem Forever route, a reveal trailer appeared, in the flesh, at E3 2015. Fumito Ueda, the developer responsible for Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and now, the upcoming The Last Guardian, sheds some light on his connection to the two ICOnic titles. Oh, man, I am SO sorry.
The upcoming game, which appears to be about a boy and his do- a boy and his bir- Uh… a boy and his… guardian, is a balanced mixture of the core principles that made up Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. In a direct quote, from the man himself:
“We tried to take the best of both worlds.”
Players are expected to use a combination of boy-and-Trico to solve puzzles, equally, with the boy’s mind, and the animal’s body and strength. The story remains a mystery but, according to Ueda, The Last Guardian is “all about a boy who has been kidnapped under mysterious circumstances.” The game will mimic a similar player-non-player cooperation to Ico’s Yorda, as you will not be able to control the guardian. However, will the long awaited journey be worth the while? Give us your thoughts on the trailer for the upcoming The Last Guardian.
