You either loved or you hated the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Either way, there’s no denying the fact that it made a ton of money. A little over $485 million to be exact.

[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]lmost immediately after the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Paramount Pictures announced that a sequel was green-lit. A tentative release date of June 3rd, 2016 was announced and that was that. Filming is now set to begin later this month in New York City and Buffalo.

As to what we might expect to see in the sequel, maybe it’s more of a question of who we can expect to see? Fan favorites like Bebop and Rocksteady were mentioned early on by producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form as being in the film, and they were also playing with the idea of having Casey Jones make an appearance as well.

Having Casey Jones involved isn’t so much of a hopeful idea anymore. Recent casting news reports that Stephen Amell of CW’s Arrow will be playing the hockey-masked vigilante in the upcoming Turtles sequel.

Amell also sent out this tweet confirming his new role.

Other casting news has yet to be announced but as the information keeps trickling in we’re getting more and more excited. Things are definitely shaping up nicely for this to be the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot yet.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, recently rumored to be titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Half Shell is set to release June 3rd, 2016.
