Toei Animation, the powerhouse behind the iconic Dragon Ball anime, unveiled their latest project at this year’s New York Comic-Con: Dragon Ball Daima. This new series is set to take us on a thrilling journey with our favorite Saiyan warrior, Son Goku, but with a twist.

Dragon Ball Daima, unlike its predecessors, will not be a sequel to Dragon Ball Super or any continuation of that storyline. Instead, it will bridge the gap between the pre-epilogue of Dragon Ball Z and the events of Dragon Ball Super. This means we’ll be treated to entirely new adventures with our beloved characters, but don’t expect any Super Saiyan God type stuff.

Dragon Ball Daima represents a significant departure from the conventional Dragon Ball formula as the series won’t be based on any existing manga. It will feature a unique plotline where Son Goku and the Z-Fighters find themselves mysteriously transformed into children, all thanks to a new formidable enemy. Together with Kaioshin, Goku embarks on a cosmic quest to regain his adult form. Toei Animation, the studio responsible for most of our Z-Fighters’ animated adventures, will be at the helm of this exciting project.

One of the most surprising elements of Dragon Ball Daima is its placement in the Shonen series’ timeline. While the exact release date remains undisclosed, we can look forward to its debut in Fall 2024. This means we have a little over a year to prepare for this highly anticipated release.

In this unique series, Goku, our Saiyan hero, will experience a significant de-aging process. He will be compelled to traverse the galaxy alongside Kaioshin, setting the stage for a myriad of adventures and, quite possibly, reuniting with old allies along the way.

While Dragon Ball Daima might not be precisely what fans initially expected, it promises an exciting twist on the classic Dragon Ball narrative, with Goku at the forefront of the action. If you’re looking to reacquaint yourself with the Dragon Ball universe before this grand release, you’re in luck. The entire series is readily available on various streaming platforms, from Hulu to Crunchyroll.
