Whether it is true or not, Doctor Who deserves to have a female Doctor.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]here are several factors at play here which we can dive into as to why it seems likely that Phoebe Waller-Bridge could be the next Doctor. For starters, BBC has made it abundantly apparent that while they want to bring Doctor Who back to the era of 10 (think David Tennant and Billie Piper), they are being VERY picky about who the next Doctor is. Not only that, but they always seem to announce the casting with someone who decidedly couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the role and what better person to do so than Andrew Neil?
That being said, when Phoebe Waller-Bridge was asked a question about Doctor Who she obviously avoided the question and her entire body language projected that she was nervous. If she wasn’t involved in some way with Doctor Who she definitely wouldn’t have reacted the way she did meaning that she might be the next Doctor or maybe a companion? Who knows.
For some time now there has been a growing amount of pressure on BBC to cast an actress for the role of the next Doctor. However, Doctor Who has been hit with several budget cuts in the past and the executives seem to believe that they need another power couple like 10 and Rose Tyler to bring back more viewers in order to draw in more money. While this might be true, the show owes it to its fans to introduce a female Doctor and even the Doctor himself has said that he could be a woman if he regenerated.
