‘Doctor Who’ Releases Trailer for New Year’s Day Special, Captain Jack to Return

Doctor Who‘s holiday specials have always been adored by fans. Action-packed and filled with plot twists, each episode is unique and often features a surprise guest or guests from either other popular shows or a character from seasons ago making a surprise return. The latest Doctor Who holiday special, titled Revolution of the Daleks, appears to be no different either.

Executive producer Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) had this to say about the holiday special:

“We’ve crammed this year’s Doctor Who special with an explosion of extraordinary acting talent. Where else would you get British acting royalty, a globally renowned U.S. screen star, an (inter)national treasure of stage and screen and one of Britain’s hottest young actors — just in the guest cast! Put those together with Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole (and Daleks! Did I mention Daleks!) — and you get a cast to be exterminated for. And things will explode. Promise.”

Season 12 of Doctor Who ended with the Thirteenth Doctor locked away in a high-security alien prison as her companions Yaz, Ryan, and Graham carried on with their lives. However it appears the Daleks, one of the Doctor’s arch enemies, have arrived and are looking to control planet Earth. Luckily, Captain Jack has returned to aid them in their fight against the Daleks. But will that be enough?

Revolution of the Daleks will air on January 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BBC America.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
