Redfall’s New ‘Official Story Trailer’ Teases the Origin of Vampires

Delve into the darkness and take back Redfall. Coming May 2nd.

Arkane Studios and Bethesda have released the Official Story Trailer for their upcoming open-world vampire shooter, Redfall. And it has us more intrigued than ever. The trailer, which you can watch for yourself below, shows off new gameplay, enemies, and “vampire gods”, as well as teasing the possible source of this blood-thirsty pandemic…

Take a look:

There’s a lot more to the charming island of Redfall than meets the eye. The scientists at Aevum HQ have been working on something world-shattering. People are going missing; there are dead bodies and blood everywhere; the sun has been eclipsed; and vampires rule the town. Were the vampires just an experiment gone horribly wrong or something far more disturbing? Who are the vampire gods? The only thing to know for sure is that everything is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

The big standout here for us is that the vampire outbreak appears to be a result of a botched science experiment, though we suspect there is something far more sinister afoot. And the concept of “vampire gods” is no doubt intriguing. Each of these unique vampires possesses unique abilities and appearances that are likely to shake you to the very core while roaming around the open-world that is Redfall.

Arkane Austin’s upcoming vampire game indeed looks promising but early criticism and word of mouth may derail the game a bit further before it launches next month. Still, Arkane Studios is responsible for incredible titles with a fairly impressive track record so far (Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Prey, Death Loop), so we will be waiting for reviews and first-hand gameplay experience before we jump to any conclusions. That said, the always online function is rather disappointing…

Redfall arrives exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 2, 2023. Pre-order now or play with Game Pass for exclusive content.
