Marvel has a massive slate of upcoming projects both on the big and small screen, which includes the highly-anticipated Ms. Marvel that centers around Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American Muslim teenager from New Jersey. Khan, who is being played by 16-year-old Iman Vellani, made her comic book debut back in 2014.
Earlier this week, Just Jared caught a glimpse of Vellani in her official costume on set filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
If you aren’t familiar with Kamala Khan, though many probably recognize her from the Marvel Avenger’s videogame, Khan is a teenager who finds she has Inhuman genes and develops shapeshifting powers. The name “Ms. Marvel” comes from her idolizing her role model Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers.
Ms. Marvel is set to be released later this year exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service as a part of MCU’s Phase Four. No word on whether Brie Larson will appear in the show as Danvers/Captain Marvel but you can expect Khan to appear in the big screen at some point, quite possibly in the Captain Marvel sequel titled “The Marvels“.
You can take a look at a lot more photos of Iman Vellani in costume on Jared Jared‘s official site.
