The highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed movie will start filming this September, according to Michael Fassbender, who will star in the film.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he movie adaptation for Assassin’s Creed has been undergoing development for quite some time now. Four years to be exact. However, you can’t really blame Ubisoft Motion Pictures for taking so long. Keeping in mind terrible video game adaptations like Super Mario Bros, which was a complete and utter failure, it is understandable why Ubisoft Motion Pictures is taking its time.
Michael Fassbender, who starred in the films like X-Men: First Class and Inglorious Basterds, spoke with ComingSoon.net about the movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed in an interview. Mr. Fassbender was evasive when it came to details about the movie. “You say it’s a long time but what I’ve found — it’s all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time,” he said in response to the movie’s delays. “It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It’s exciting. It’s going to start this year, we’ll be filming in September.”
From what Mr. Fassbender has told us, Ubisoft Motion Pictures will have quite a bit of time to make sure the movie meets everyone’s expectations. No one knows which character he will be playing in the film. Rumors said that he would be playing Desmond Miles, a bartender who has a long bloodline of historic assassins in his family. In response to this rumor Mr. Fassbender said, “You don’t know that. Don’t listen to what they tell you, that’s the first rule”.
When Mr. Fassbender was asked which games and time periods they would use in Assassin’s Creed all he would say is, “That’s always the challenge of something that’s so dense, to really find something and pare it down and basically, there are so many elements to it, so trying to translate that to an audience, you have to pick key things. So yes, that is part of it, getting through the density of it and paring down and engaging a simple story.” Another evasive answer from Mr. Fassbender, but from the sounds of it Ubisoft Motion Pictures has plenty of time to make Assassin’s Creed the best video game adaptation thus far.
Assassin’s Creed will be released December 21st, 2016.
