Industrial Light & Magic, the special effects studio behind Star Wars, has released a portfolio of concept art for The Force Awakens. Concept art is used to visualize scenes and characters before filming is done, so the artwork may or may not reflect what’s in the actual movie.
Check out the concept art in the gallery below.
One of the more interesting pieces is the one below that features early iterations of Kylo Ren’s mask. The masks vary from awesome to lame.
Most look like Dark Helmet though.
Another interesting piece of art is one featuring Ren overseeing the torture of a Jedi. This scene looks similar to one featured early in the film, were Poe Dameron is interrogated by Ren. Could Dameron’s character originally have been a Jedi? It’s possible.
Anyway, we absolutely love concept art, and especially when it’s from Star Wars. Plus, maybe we’ll see some of the unused scenarios seen in this artwork in Episode 8 or 9.
You can check out the entire concept art portfolio here.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes to Digital HD on April 1, and Blu-Ray April 5.
