Some movies should remain untouched, The Matrix trilogy is one of them.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]hese days it seems that Hollywood is obsessed with superhero films and remaking or rebooting films from the past and why wouldn’t they? After all, it certainly has paid off overall with the exception of some films (Evil Dead) but that doesn’t mean every film needs to be remade. There are a certain set of films that shouldn’t be remade, Titanic and Inception are great examples of this because they were astounding films that blew viewers and critics away. As for trilogies, Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones (we refuse to acknowledge the existence of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) should never be remade.
With that being said, it appears that Joel Silver was asked if The Matrix could be completely remade or extended. Joel Silver had a strong hand in producing The Matrix and what he has to say about the subject easily answers what we all are thinking.
“We haven’t talked about it yet. I hope there’ll be a time we can do that at some point. That was very seriously designed as three stories and that was it, but we’ll see what happens.”
Let’s be honest with ourselves, how could you possibly make The Matrix trilogy any better? You can’t. It is one of those unique film trilogies where everything played out perfectly and was made beautifully. Why tarnish something so good? Some films are just meant to be left alone and The Matrix is one of them.
