We all know by now Natasha Romanoff won’t be carrying on the title of Black Widow following her untimely demise in Avengers: Endgame. But one question which doesn’t seem to be addressed by the film is who is going to be the next Black Widow? According to a new rumor, that question will be answered in the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye.
The Direct is reporting Florence Pugh, who will appear in next year’s Black Widow film as Yelena Belova, will make an appearance in Hawkeye where she will allegedly “don a Ronin-inspired costume – similar to the suit that Clint Barton wore in Avengers: Endgame – at one point in the series.”
Cate Shortland, who is the director for Black Widow, has already stated Marvel Studios has big plans for Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. The director said Black Widow would “propel” Yelena’s story forward which certainly gives more weight to the rumor that she may be the next Black Widow. It is entirely possible Yelena Belova could take on the identity of Ronin in Hawkeye before assuming the role as the next Black Widow. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Black Widow is set to arrive in theaters May 7, 2021.
