[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he ever-so-popular SRPG franchise, Fire Emblem, will be bringing Fire Emblem Fates stateside, according to Nintendo. The game, revealed during their E3 Digital Event, will follow the events of Fire Emblem: Awakening. The ‘Fates’ part of the title is a nod towards the ability to follow two separate story paths in two separate editions. The Conquest and Birthright editions will be sold separately, in both the U.S. and Japan, and will introduce a third version, later on, as DLC. This formula sounds a bit familiar.

Nintendo has confirmed that same-sex marriages will be an option between the player and another character in the game.

“In the Conquest edition of the game, there is a male character that the game’s player may have his/her male main character marry after they bond in battle. Similarly, the Birthright edition features a female character that a female main character may marry after bonding in battle. Both of the aforementioned characters can be encountered in the third edition of the game.”

The game’s publisher, who has seen heat, in the past, for restricting same-sex marriage options, has decided to include it for the upcoming release.

Fire Emblem Fates releases for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016.
