It’s been over six years since Edge of Tomorrow hit theaters surprising viewers and critics alike and since then the film has garnered an impressive fan base in the sci-fi community. Since then fans have been asking for when the sequel will be released and according to Emily Blunt who co-starred alongside Tom Cruise in the first film the script is “really promising and really, really cool.”
Production on the sequel, titled Edge of Tomorrow 2, stalled for some time until Matt Robinson was hired to write the script in March of 2019. Since then Doug Liman, who directed the first film, has signed on to direct the sequel which he claims is even better than the first.
Emily Blunt had this to say about the sequel:
“Yes, [the script] is really promising and really, really cool. I just don’t know when everything’s going to sort of align, you know what I mean? Between all of our schedules, it would just have to be the right time. But there is something in the works, for sure, that’s a great idea. A great idea.”
There is no official news on whether or not Tom Cruise has signed on for the sequel but judging by Emily Blunt’s comments its safe to assume he’s likely to return.
There is no official release date for Edge of Tomorrow 2.
