Dong Nguyen Releases ‘Swing Copters’ [UPDATED]

[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n case there wasn’t enough frustration in your life, Dong Nguyen, the creator of Flappy Bird, has released his latest reason to throw your iPhone at a wall: Swing Copters.

swing

Swing Copters involves what appears to be a depressed pair of testicles with eyes, hands, a mouth, and a helicopter helmet, with the only goal of flying upwards to the heavens without hitting the swinging hammers that send him crashing to the ground. As you continuously tap on the screen to send the sack upwards, his eyes change directions and his trajectory heads in the same direction. Sounds easy enough, but then you remember that Dong Nguyen created it.

Mr. Nguyen obviously receives some sort of sick pleasure from making games that are equally as addicting as they are impossible to master. After having played Swing Copters off and on for about two days my high score sits at 10. The current high score in the world is 77.

Screw the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, I challenge all of you to beat my high score without cussing out your phone. You have 24 hours.

UPDATE (8/30): Since the original launch, the first update has be released which tweaks the game mechanics a bit to make it slightly easier, “slightly” being the keyword there. My new high score is 54. In addition to the new update, Swing Copters’ popularity and growing success has already spawned many similar alternatives in the App Store and even web based versions of the game such as this one. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?
