The new biopic apparently has spot-on performances from Fassbender and Seth Rogen.
Anyone remember Jobs? You know, that 2013 biographical film chronicling the life of the famous Apple founder? It starred Ashton Kutcher? Anyone?
Well, even if you do, it’s probably best to forget about it. The film was widely panned, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has gone on to say it is very inaccurate. He has specifically criticized how Kutcher’s performance did not capture the duality of Jobs, a brilliant, yet flawed innovator.
Unlike Jobs though, the latest biopic based on Steve Jobs, aptly titled Steve Jobs, is receiving strong reviews, and this time, Wozniak approves.
At the film’s premiere during the Telluride Film Festival, Wozniak (portrayed by Seth Rogen) was in attendance, and he had some glowing things to say about the film:
“I saw a rough cut and I felt like I was actually watching Steve Jobs and the others, not actors playing them, I give full credit to Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin for getting it so right.”
From the guy who was actually by Steve’s side when Apple was first taking off, this is truly high praise.
Similar to Jobs, this film will glimpse into important events that impacted Steve’s life, and his company. The film’s cast includes Michael Fassbender in the starring role, alongside Seth Rogen, Kate Winslet, and Jeff Daniels. The film is directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) and scripted by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network).
With incredible talent behind and in front of the camera, Wozniak’s kind words don’t seem too farfetched; especially his praise of Fassbender, whose performance is receiving Oscar buzz from numerous critics.
Hopefully Fassbender and the rest of the cast will help us permanently erase Jobs from our brains.
Steve Jobs hits theaters on October 9th.
