It has been a long, long, time since anything has happened with the Silent Hill franchise. Not since 2014’s P.T. (Playable Teaser), which turned out to be a teaser for the canceled Silent Hills with Norman Reedus, has anything taken shape in the series, leaving many to wonder when or if there would be another video game entry someday. Turns out, we may finally get an update on all that on Wednesday.

Over the weekend, the official Silent Hill Twitter account shared that the series will get some updates on Wednesday, October 19th at 2:00p PST as part of their “Silent Hill Transmission”. Emphasis on “updates”, plural.

Over the last several days, news has been circling amidst reports that Konami is working on several Silent Hill projects at once. That news came from director Christophe Gans, who directed the Silent Hill film from 2006. In a recent interview, Gans talked about how he is working with “the Silent Team” at Konami where several games are on the way. Here is the full quote:

“I’m working with the Silent Team, the original creators at Konami, there are several games in development as we speak, there are several teams on it, with a big line of games, they will revive the franchise,” Gans said. “I think they were really impressed of the success of the remakes of Resident Evil that are evidently exceptional games.”

As of right now, we do not know what games are going to be coming but you can bet that a remake or two is a sure thing, at the very least. Rumors have been floating around for the better part of a year that at least the first two Silent Hill titles were being developed as remakes. Of course, there is also an expectation that the announcement of a brand new game is also on the way, which is likely ‘Silent Hill: The Short Message‘, a game title that recently got rated in Korea. Curious.

Earlier this year, images started coming out online that were allegedly concept art for a new Silent Hills game but nothing was confirmed by Konami or the Silent Team. However, those concept images, assuming that is indeed what they were, were quickly taken down which only supported the rumors even further.

At the present time, no further details of what we can expect on Wednesday have been shared but Konami is teasing a freshly updated section of their website dedicated to the transmission. If you head over there, you can see the Silent Hills logo placed over an animated layer of eery fog, a signature for the series.

The Silent Hill Transmission will take place this Wednesday at 2:00p PST. Expect the broadcast to get some major coverage from us and be sure to bookmark the Silent Hills page to see what is in store for the series, as it is sure to be something big.
