Superstar Tom Cruise set to fight a Mummy! Sounds like a good time.
Tom Cruise has signed on to Universal’s reboot of the The Mummy. Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan had come together over the past summer to develop and bring this monster movie into Universal’s radar.
Kurtzman is set to direct and plans to produce with Morgan, as well as Sean Daniel. The script will be done by Jon Spaihts, known for writing Prometheus and The Darkest Hour. As of now all the information out on the story is that it will take place in present day.
Cruise, while not planning to produce at the time, is playing a major part in the development. The plan is that the characters from their monster universe are planned to appear in each others films, then coming together in an “Avengers”-style tie in movie.
The newest Mummy movie is planned to be released on June 9th, 2017.
