Hopefully The Witcher will turn out much better than Doom did.
[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he studio Platige Films has announced that they are partnering with the Sean Daniel Company to produce a live-action film based on the novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The studio hopes to release the film some time in 2017 and if everything goes splendidly, turn the novels in a series of movies.
While most video games that have been turned into movies generally crash and burn, The Witcher is getting a lot of help from Hollywood to make this film succeed in theaters. As mentioned before, the Sean Daniel Company has partnered with Platige Films to produce the film and the Sean Daniel Company has their experience in producing sci-fi-/fantasy films. The company produced The Mummy franchise along with several other films and it appears that Oscar nominee Tomasz Baginski is going to direct the film while Thania St. John (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) writes the script for the movie.
No cast announcements for the role of Geralt have been released yet, but hopefully The Witcher will be the first successful film that is based of a popular video game. After all, there are films based off of comic books so making a successful film about a video game character can’t be that difficult, right?
