It was recently announced that relatively unknown British writer, Jay Basu, has signed on to write the script.
It has been in development – and on somewhat of a hiatus – for a while now. It was originally reported that series creator Hideo Kojima was working as a supervisor for the film, though recent power struggles between Konami and Kojima, have made it unknown if he’s still involved.
There’s no word yet on plot or who will play Solid Snake, though Hugh Jackman has been mentioned. The movie is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad and directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer)
The next game in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, is set to launch on September 1.
