We Got This Covered is reporting that Warner Bros is interested in once again picking up The Mask, the long since dead franchise starring Jim Carrey, for an alleged sequel. If these reports are to be believed, WB is pushing for discussions to get Carrey to return in the role.
Released in 1994, the original starred Jim Carrey and introduced Cameron Diaz to the big screen, with a sequel planned but later scrapped due to Carrey leaving the project. A 2005 standalone sequel that had nothing to do with either Carrey or Diaz’s characters, starred Jamie Kennedy and ended up a critical and commercial failure. Despite that, it seems that Warner Bros feels that the time is now to return to this franchise and bring Carrey back.
Nothing can be confirmed at this time, but WGTC has been crushing it with the rumors lately, so this could end up being legit. No further details are known at this time.
