The future of the recent Star Trek films seemed up in the air since 2016’s Star Trek: Beyond, but as of recently, it appears things have become more certain.
THR is reporting that Paramount Studios has confirmed that the next Star Trek film is coming with Chris Pine expected to return as James T. Kirk along with his co-stars, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto, respectively.
Noah Hawley, who was the creator, writer, and director of FX‘s Fargo and Legion, is set to direct this new installment, departing from J.J. Abrams (who directed Star Trek and Into Darkness) and Justin Lin (Star Trek: Beyond).
There has not been any significant news on the Star Trek film front since 2017 when Quentin Tarantino pitched an idea for a Star Trek movie with J.J. Abrams attached as producer. Nothing new has been added on the subject, but we assume this Star Trek project is pretty much dead at this point.
No additional information on Star Trek 4 has been provided, though we suspect a release date will be announced in the coming months.
