Batfleck to work with Geoff Johns on the new film.
[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]hile rumors and speculation of a solo Batman film starring Ben Affleck have been swirling around the web for sometime now, new details have recently emerged that seemingly confirm Batman is coming back to theaters, without Superman.
In a report from Variety, Ben Affleck is currently negotiating to star, co-write, and possibly direct a solo Batman film. The co-writer on the project is Geoff Johns, the Chief Creative Officer at DC, who has written episodes of Arrow and The Flash for The CW.
Details are scarce, but Affleck would work on his Caped Crusader film after directing his upcoming project, Live by Night.
Although Affleck has signed a multi-picture deal with Warner Bros. and DC, the only films he is confirmed to appear in right now are Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Justice League films, and, through set leaks, Suicide Squad.
This report fits nicely with a recent rumor that a solo Batman movie called The Batman will be released in 2018, even though the DC movie schedule has already been announced, with films slated all the way up through 2020.
If this report is true, be prepared. Affleck has proven himself a talent both behind, and in front of the camera with his films Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and Argo.
Whether or not the Dark Knight flies solo, you will see Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, coming March 25th 2016.
