A recent interview with Hugh Jackman teases a return for Victor Creed!
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]n an interview on Sydney Confidential podcast, Hugh Jackman talked about the upcoming movie Wolverine 3, which will be the last movie that he will be The Wolverine. When asked about the film, Jackman brought up an interesting character:
“There were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back”
If you don’t know who that is, that would be Sabretooth, who appeared in two other films with Wolverine (X-Men and X-Men Origins: Wolverine). Just the fact that Hugh Jackman brought it up without the interviewer even mentioning Sabretooth makes this a big deal.
The two appearances made by Sabretooth did not appeal very much to the fans. Former wrestler Tyler Mane played Sabretooth in X-Men, acting as one of Magneto’s henchmen and never really established himself as a key character (especially since he never really said anything.) X-Men Origins: Wolverine portrayed Sabretooth (played by Liev Schreiber) as Wolverine’s big brother, even though for most of the movie, they weren’t on the same side. We even had a flashback look at them when they were kids. Although Schreiber’s character still played side-kick to William Stryker, his relationship with Wolverine gave him a flexible role to where he wasn’t always with Stryker, unlike the Tyler Mane role where he never left Magneto and followed every order given.
Even with the improved role for Sabretooth in the last movie, the relationship he had with Wolverine could actually hinder his chances of being in Wolverine 3. The best chance of him being in this movie is if he returned to the henchmen role he had in X-Men.
Wolverine 3 is scheduled to begin filming in early 2016 and aiming for a theater release on March 3rd, 2017!
