Remedy Entertainment has provided fresh updates on its lineup of upcoming titles through a quarterly business review. The report provides insights into the current financial position of the studio and describes the progress on various highly anticipated projects such as Control 2, Max Payne 1&2 Remake, and the Control multiplayer spin-off Codename Condor.
According to the report, the Control 2 development team is wrapping up the proof-of-concept stage, where the game world, mechanics, and visual standards are being polished. The project is expected to move to the production readiness phase in Q2 of this year. Control 2 was first announced in 2022.
In February, Remedy Entertainment gained ownership of Control from publisher 505 Games, granting the studio full creative freedom over the franchise. CEO Tero Virtala commented, “We are currently exploring self-publishing opportunities and evaluating different business models. Concurrently, we are assessing potential partnerships and exploring different publishing agreements.”
Max Payne 1&2 Remake, which reconstructs both games into one title, remains in the production readiness stage as outlined in October 2023. Full production is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2024.
Codename Condor is also now in full production. The studio describes its core gameplay loop as engaging, adding a distinct Remedy touch to the upcoming Control spinoff. Meanwhile, Codename Kestral, another multiplayer project described as a premium game with a strong cooperative multiplayer element, is still in the concept phase.
Additionally, Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million copies since its launch, recouping a substantial portion of its development and marketing costs. The team is working on upcoming expansions, including Night Springs and Lake House. You can read our full Alan Wake 2 review here.
Remedy aims to have two projects in full production simultaneously, with the expectation that the momentum from the start of the year will carry through to the production stages.
