Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Gets its First Official Teaser Trailer

Please be good. Please be good. Please be good.

Let’s be real- we do not need a live-action AtLA series. But even still, it is hard not to get at least a little bit excited by what we have seen so far in the stills and recent trailer for Netflix’s next big flagship series adaptation. And while we are torn between being overwhelmingly skeptical about Netflix possibly tarnishing another animated series, the trailer’s visual faithfulness has left us fairly impressed.

Take a look.

The four nations of the world once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world.

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, follows a young Air Nomad named Aang, as he reawakens to a world ravaged by war. Together with his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, he embarks on an action-packed quest to take his rightful place as the next AVATAR.

Between the looks of the main cast, the Earth Kingdom, the Kyoshi Warriors, and so much more, you have to hand it Netflix with this one- they brought the animated series to life in the most faithful visual representation imaginable. But that exactly doesn’t quell our fears. We have been hurt in the past (looking at you, M. Night) so no one could be blamed by having nothing but a drop of faith left in the tank. In any case, as always, we will just have to wait and see.

This new live-action reimagining of the award-winning Nickelodeon animated series comes to Netflix in 2024.
