[dropcap size=small]A[/dropcap]ctress Margot Robbie, who garnered national attention in Martin Scorsese’s Wolf of Wall Street, will reportedly play Harley Quinn in Warner Bros. Suicide Squad film. The news comes in the wake of the revelation that Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) is being courted to star as The Joker.
The character Harley Quinn made her debut in Batman: The Animated Series as the Joker’s lighthearted, yet deadly, girlfriend/henchwoman. Since then, the character has gone on to achieve widespread popularity in television and comics. This would be the first instance that Harley Quinn has been portrayed in a major motion picture.
Robbie is currently attached to several projects including Focus, Tarzan, Z for Zacharia, and The Taliban Shuffle. Since the Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie’s career seems to be on an upward trajectory. Therefore, she may be a more well-known star by the release of the Suicide Squad.
Will Smith and Tom Hardy are also reportedly in talks to signing on to the project.
