Looks like we are getting another Underworld movie, with Kate Beckinsale returning and Anna Foerster set to direct.

[dropcap size=small]W[/dropcap]e are getting the fifth installment in the Underworld franchise, and Kate Beckinsale is back to reprise her role as the vampire Selene. The movie is scheduled to start filming this October in Prague. Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems will also make a first with this movie with having a female director for the first time in the franchise.

Anna Foerster will be in the directors chair for Underworld: Next Generation. Foerster was Roland Emmerich’s right-hand woman as he worked on movies like The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down. This will be the first time the franchise will have a female director, but gender shouldn’t matter when it comes to creativity. The hiring of Foerster was made before a report by the ACLU  on Tuesday, which touches on gender inequality in the industry.

Not much is known about the plot of the upcoming action-horror film, but we do know a few things. A script has been written by Cory Goodman (Priest, The Last Witch Hunter), and Theo James is set to reprise his role as David. The movie will be most likely focus on a younger generation or werewolves and vampires who are continuing the endless fight between the two races.

Underworld: Next Generation, directed by Anna Foerster and staring Kate Beckinsale and Theo James, will be out in theaters hopefully sometime late 2016.
