Some things are meant to be left alone. Forgotten nuclear bombs, your embarrassing statuses on Facebook from 2005, and The Matrix trilogy are some of them.
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]t seems that nearly everything is getting a reboot these days and The Matrix franchise has apparently fallen under that category. The Hollywood Reporter is calling the fourth film a “relaunch” and a “reboot”. However, no one is sure what that means and it is uncertain if siblings Lana and Lilly Wachowski, who are responsible for creating the wonderful franchise, are going to be involved in the project.
It is reported that The trilogy’s original producer, Joel Silver, approached Warner Bros. with the idea of a sequel and the studio seems to have jumped at the idea. Even with the ball supposedly rolling it is unclear if the original trilogy’s main and most important character Neo, played by the talented Keanu Reeves, will return as well. Zak Penn, who has worked on the screenplays for The Avengers, is in talks to write the script.
