[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]here have been many popular films based on events, personal experiences, and stories that took place during World War II. That being said Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, which he will be personally directing, is shaping up to be an impressive film due to the film’s cast line up and story.
Hacksaw Ridge is about a man named Desmond T. Doss, played by Andrew Garfield, who saves dozens of soldiers during the bloody and brutal Battle of Okinawa, one of the worst battles in the Pacific Theater for the United States. Desmond T. Doss was the first conscientious objector, someone who claims the right to refuse military service, to win the Congressional Medal of Honor. Hugo Weaving will be playing the role of Desmond T. Doss’ father, Tom Doss.
Hugo Weaving joins an all-star cast including Vince Vaughn, Luke Bracey, Teresa Palmer, Sam Worthington and Rachel Griffiths. Filming for Hacksaw Ridge began several weeks ago in Australia.
