Indiana Jones 5 is announced to be a “requel” of the Indiana Jones series, and it will not be the last film of the franchise.
With the recent announcement of the Indiana Jones film, much has since been revealed about the upcoming installment. The producers are calling it a cross between a reboot and a sequel, what’s now being called a “requel”. What we currently know is that Harrison Ford (age 73) will be back for this installment, Spielberg is in the director’s chair, the film will be released July 2019, and that Jones will not die in the film. Other good news for the film tells us that John Williams will be writing a new score, George Lucas will be involved with the movie’s production, and that this will not be the last we here from Indiana Jones.
In a recent interview with Disney CEO, Robert Iger, some of the film’s future plans were released. Iger revealed most of the above details letting fans know that this film will in fact be a reboot/sequel or requel. Disney does have confirmed plans for how they will incorporate the 73 year-old Harrison Ford into the film, but as of right now, the CEO isn’t releasing any of the juicy details for the film’s plot. However, Iger did say that Disney had plans for at least one other installment for the film, meaning that the fifth film will not be the final movie for Indiana Jones. When asked if their would be a “younger” Indiana Jones in the future films, Iger brushed off the question claiming he didn’t know at the time what the franchise’s direction would be taking.
While Iger claimed that the films wouldn’t be as extensive as the Star Wars film(s) expansion, Indiana Jones fans can rejoice for at least two more movie additions. The fifth film is set to release July 2019 and we can expect Harrison Ford to bring yet another stellar performance.
