Are anime based live action films Japan’s answer to Hollywood’s DC/Marvel films?
[dropcap size=small]I[/dropcap]f you were to ask anyone who enthusiastically watches anime what their favorite animes are you can be sure that Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood or Fullmetal Alchemist will be mentioned. Even though the anime and the manga were released several years ago they continue to be incredibly popular to this day. There have been multiple video games released and a few animated films too.
Considering that Japan already has released a live action trilogy based off of the Rurouni Kenshin anime as well as Attack on Titan it makes sense that a Fullmetal Alchemist live action film would be released. Check out the trailer below!
Despite the fact that the trailer is completely in Japanese with no English subtitles the trailer still is quite exciting. The emotionally famous scene where Edward, played by Ryosuke Yamada (Assassination Classroom), promises Alphonse that he will get their bodies back can be seen. In addition to this, there is also a brief moment where a possible Homunculus is charging at Edward as he readies his lance for battle.
With the live action Attack on Titan film considered to be a disappointment we hope Fullmetal Alchemist follows in the footsteps of Rurouni Kenshin, proving that anime/manga based live action films can be just as thrilling.
Fullmetal Alchemist will be released in Japan sometime in 2017.
