Director Edward Zwick and Tom Cruise will reunite for the sequel of Jack Reacher.
[dropcap size=small]E[/dropcap]dward Zwick last directed Tom Cruise in the 2003 hit The Last Samurai but will join forces with Cruise again for the upcoming sequel to 2012’s Jack Reacher. Reacher which is based off Lee Child’s novel One Shot grossed $80.1 million in theaters. Zwick is set to direct and adapt Child’s novel Never Go Back as a sequel to Reacher. Zwick commented on the news saying:
“We (Cruise and Zwick) had a very good experience (The Last Samurai) together, and when you’ve had a good experience together, you are drawn to try to capture lightning in a bottle again.”
Jack Reacher follows the story of the title character, Jack, who is pulled into a five person sniper related murder case after the supposed culprit tells authorities to contact him. Never Go Back is not an exact sequel to One Shot so the film would have to be adapted slightly to make the story continuous.
There is no set production or release date for the movie at this time.
