Fans of Anthem received sad news today. BioWare Austin studio director Christian Dailey released a statement announcing they would be shutting down their work on Anthem: Next aka Anthem 2.0. You can read the statement below.

“I know this will be disappointing to the community of Anthem players who have been excited to see the improvements we’ve been working on, It’s also disappointing for the team who were doing brilliant work.

And for me personally, Anthem is what brought me to BioWare, and the last two years have been some of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my career.”

Originally released back in 2019, Anthem received a lot of hype before sadly following in the same footsteps as Destiny. After receiving a strong backlash from fans and critics alike BioWare decided to focus on revamping the game. Sadly, the publisher EA appears to no longer believe it’s worth pursuing this and has pulled the plug on the project.

Dailey announced the team overseeing Anthem: Next will be refocusing their efforts on the upcoming Dragon Age and Mass Effect series but servers will stay live for Anthem players.
