[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]wo years after the tragic passing of Robin Williams, a remake of his classic movie Jumanji has been confirmed. The remake is set to star Dwayne Jonhson, Jack Black and Kevin Heart. Johnson has promised the fans of the original will not be let down. He wrote the following on Instagram (his usual place to give updates regarding the film) :

“It’s official, working on edging up an already very good script with my [Seven Bucks Production] team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up.”

Johnson also posted on a later Instagram post that he promises to honor Robin Williams, a man he says he always looked up to. Johnson wrote later on another post:

“An important thing that I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word, we will honor his name and the character of ‘Alan Parrish’ will stand alone and be forever immortalized in the world of JUMANJI in an earnest and cool way.”

Jumanji is originally a 1981 children's picture book, written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg.

It’s nice to hear that so much work is going towards updating this classic movie. It’ll be a while before Jumanji hits theaters on July 28, 2017, but that is just more time the production team will have to get it right!
