The TV series was original announced at this year’s SDCC, and then via Twitter, Bruce Campbell confirmed that he would be playing the lead, reprising his role as Ashley “Ash” Williams. Sam Raimi, who directed the original Evil Dead film series, will be returning as producer.
Last year’s Evil Dead reboot, directed by Fede Alvarez, did quite well in the box office opening at number 1, raking in nearly $100 million worldwide. For those of you who stayed after the credits, you got a small clip of Bruce Campbell saying groovy. At the time it only seemed like a small cameo, but with the news of a TV show, it makes you wonder if he knew back then. In any case, it’s got us saying groovy as well.
