It will be a while before we see Ben Affleck debut in his solo movie!
[dropcap size=small]U[/dropcap]ntil there is an official script that Ben Affleck approves, we won’t be seeing a solo Batman movie anytime soon. As exciting as this is, the movie has never actually had an official announcement and that won’t come around until a script is approved. Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes commented on how long it will be until we could see a new Batman movie.
“Ben announced a Batman movie [that] he’s going to direct, star, write for – I think it’s a year and a half out.”
This gives us at least an idea of when we could see another Batman movie. But it’s also a very vague statement and it could wait longer.
Here is the current schedule of upcoming DC movie releases:
- Wonder Woman: June 2, 2017 (Post-production)
- Justice League: November 17, 2017 (Filming)
- The Flash: March 16, 2018 (Pre-production)
- Aquaman: July 27, 2018 (Pre-Production)
- Untitled DC FilmL October 5, 2018 (In development)
- Shazam: April 5, 2019 (In Development)
- Justice League 2: June 14, 2019 (In Development)
- Untitled DC Film: November 1, 2019 (In Development)
- Cyborg: April 3, 2020 (In Development)
- Green Lantern Corps: July 24, 2020 (In Development)
Other movies that are in development include a Man of Steel sequel, a Harley Quinn solo movie and a sequel to Suicide Squad. A Batman movie could be more realistically around the time that these movies release.
If things go well for the start-up process, Ben Affleck’s Batman movie would come out in early 2018, at best. But if the script is still being worked on now, I don’t think we will be seeing it until at least 2019.
There are two untitled movies that DC has yet to announce. The release dates are October 5th, 2018 and November 1st, 2019 could be possible dates for the Batman movie, if everything goes well in pre-production, then one of these dates looks realistic. Filming would have to start sometime in 2017 to make these dates.
