The series will feature as a tie-in between the two films coming out later this summer in Japan.

Fans of the manga have much to rejoice about, with season two of the anime series expected some time early 2016, two live-action films coming back-to-back, and now a live series is hot on the trail. Not to mention the manga itself has not concluded, and still has many questions left to answer and many stories left to explore.

Anime News Network is reporting that the series will air in Japan, starting August featuring the daily lives of soldiers and the secrets they keep while trying to survive against the horrible onslaught of the monstrous human-eating titans.

A few actors will reprise their roles from the films including Ayame Misaki as Hiana, Shu Watanabe as Fukushi, Rina Takeda as Lil, and Nanami Sakuraba as Sasha. The star of the series however, will be Satomo Ishihara who will portray Hanji in the two films set to debut back-to-back this summer. What’s more, Yūta Hiraoka is joining the cast as an entirely new character made specifically for the show.

Director Shinji Higuchi, who is directing the live-action films, will continue to direct with the show and however many total episodes come with the series.

Docomo’s streaming service, dTV will begin showing the series beginning in August, which means a good portion of the footage from the series may come from what was shot of the films, or shot right along side simultaneously.

Attack on Titan series creator Hajime Isayama is overseeing the two films as a supervisor to ensure quality control and a story that does not deviate too far away from his own creation.

All-in-all, it looks like Attack on Titan fans have much to look forward to in nearly every aspect, from books, this new live-action news, season two of the manga, and not to mention a spin-off animated film featuring Captain Levi, set to release this June.
